Here is the sheet music for Ederlezi, a traditional folk song of the Balkan Roma, brought to wider fame through Emir Kusturica's film Time of the Gypsies in a version reworked by Goran Bregović. This is a song that instantly transports us to another world, one without pretense, both harsh and beautiful, with flavors that are bitter and yet so tender. This arrangement for women's voices (SSA) can also be performed by men's voices an octave lower. Room is left for soloists to bring out the fragility and solitude that run through the piece.
